APPRAISER COMMENTS:

This blond Fender Stratocaster was made in 1967. It is in good condition. This is the same model once used by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. The Fender Stratocaster (and Telecaster) from the 1950's put the solidbody electric guitar on the map. The Stratocaster was like no other guitar ever produced. It features three pickups, a contoured body that made playing guitar more comfortable, and a tremolo built-in. It was a smash hit. Even today, the Stratocaster is the electric guitar by which all others are judged. Having said that, not all Stratocasters were created equal. CBS purchased Fender (officially) in 1965. Even before, as early as mid-1964, things were already "on the way down"). By the end of 1965, the general look and feel of the Fender guitars had changed significantly. Any collector will tell you that the quality of Fender instruments and amps suffered as CBS employed more "mass production" manufacturing processes. The "large peghead" (starting in late 1965) as used on the Fender Stratocaster was one example of the bad changes. The "custom contoured" bodies Fender was famous for were no longer were sculpted and sleek. Newer, less attractive plastics were used for the pickguards. Cheaper Indian rosewood replaced the beautiful Brazilian rosewood on the fingerboards. The list of downgrades goes on. By 1966, the sum of all these changes in quality had a serious effect on Fender guitars as a whole. Because of this, 1966 and later Fender instruments are considered far less collectible (and vlauable) than vintage pre-CBS Fender guitars. Based on comparative data for other 1967 Stratocasters recently sold, and considering the similarities and differences for the condition, size, artistic merit, and age, we have valued the subject guitar as follows:
